Privacy Notice

How edwardbatterbury.co.uk handles information sent through its contact form.

Who is responsible for your information

Edward Batterbury is the data controller for this website and its contact form. Edward acts personally and decides how the information is used.

You can contact Edward about privacy or your information at:

hello@edwardbatterbury.co.uk

Information collected through the contact form

The form collects your enquiry type, email address and message. Your name and a related page or source URL are optional. It also creates an opaque reference so Edward can identify a delivery without putting your contact details in a technical log.

Cloudflare processes the IP address and ordinary connection information needed to serve and protect the website. The contact endpoint briefly converts the IP address into a one-way key for a 60-second rate limit. The website does not retain the IP address or key, include either in the email, or use them to identify you. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, routing information and security data as part of its network service.

Do not use the form for an emergency or casework. Do not send medical or health information, identity documents, private casework, political affiliation or voting intention, criminal allegations or other sensitive or confidential information.

Why the information is used

Edward will use the information to receive, read, reply to and manage the enquiry you chose to send; to consider corrections to the public record; and to keep the form reliable and secure.

Contact-form information will not be used for a mailing list, campaigning, fundraising, supporter profiling, targeted advertising or automated decision-making. It will not be entered into an AI system.

Lawful basis

Edward relies on legitimate interests for ordinary enquiries and minimal delivery and security records. The interests are operating the public contact route, responding to people who contact him, maintaining an accurate public record and protecting the form from abuse. The form is optional, the fields and retention are limited, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

When Edward must handle a valid data-rights request, he processes the information needed to meet his legal obligations.

Who receives the information

Only Edward monitors the contact mailbox. The public website does not keep a separate contact database.

No separate CAPTCHA, behavioural advertising or third-party analytics service is used. The form does not use email open or click tracking.

Edward will not sell contact information or share it with Portsmouth Labour merely because the enquiry concerns politics.

International transfers

Cloudflare is a United States company operating a global network and says it primarily stores information in the United States and European Economic Area. Its data-processing terms use the UK Addendum to the standard contractual clauses and the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for relevant transfers.

Resend stores contact-form message content and delivery data in the United States. Its data-processing terms use the UK Addendum to the standard contractual clauses and the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

For UK users, Apple says personal data is controlled by Apple Distribution International Limited in Ireland and is generally stored by Apple Inc. in the United States. Apple says its international transfers from the UK are governed by standard contractual clauses.

How long information is kept

  • The website itself does not keep a copy of a submitted message after the request finishes. Persistent Cloudflare Worker invocation logs are disabled.
  • Resend retains email content and delivery logs for 30 days while the account is active. Its backups persist for seven days.
  • Spam, abusive and irrelevant messages will be deleted from Edward's iCloud Mail mailbox within 30 days.
  • Genuine enquiries and replies will be deleted 12 months after closure or the last meaningful action, whichever is later.
  • Edward will review the mailbox at least every three months and remove records whose period has expired.
  • Deleted iCloud Mail messages remain in the Bin for up to 30 days unless Edward permanently empties it sooner.

Suppliers may keep limited account, security or legal-compliance records for longer under their own terms. Those records are not a contact database controlled through this website.

Cookies and similar technology

The website does not use analytics, advertising measurement, tracking pixels, tag managers, session replay, heatmaps, fingerprinting, cross-site identifiers or profiling.

The website does not set cookies or write visitor information to local storage, session storage or IndexedDB. The contact form's abuse protection runs on the server and does not create a visitor account or tracking identifier.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion or restriction; to object to processing based on legitimate interests; and to receive information about how it is used. Some rights are not absolute and may not apply in every situation.

Send a request to hello@edwardbatterbury.co.uk. Do not send identity documents through the public form. If identity evidence is reasonably needed, Edward will arrange a proportionate method separately.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. See Make a data protection complaint for current contact options.
